Turning one is a huge milestone, and every little one celebrates it in their own unique way. For Irie, her first birthday photo session was less about smiles and more about sass — and honestly, we were here for it.


Irie arrived in the sweetest blush pink tulle dress with a flower crown to match — ready to take over the world (or at least the studio). But let’s be real: not every birthday photography session goes according to plan. And that’s okay!


From hiding behind the blocks to throwing some serious side-eye at my camera, Irie brought her full personality to the session. She wasn’t in the mood for modeling — and that’s exactly what made her session special.


As a Smithfield family and milestone photographer, I’ve learned that the best photos aren’t always the posed ones. Sometimes it’s the candid, moody, real-life moments that tell the best story — especially when it comes to photographing little ones. Whether they’re giggling, pouting, or plotting their post-session snack, we capture the full experience.


So here’s to Irie — one year old, full of fire, and already keeping us on our toes. It may not have been a “Pinterest-perfect” session, but it was 100% her. And that’s what milestone photography is all about.
